Resolved…again

I had more or less given up New Year’s resolutions until last year when I made a list of works in progress and resolved to finish all of them before starting anything new.  Like many of us quilters, I again find I am juggling so many projects that it is hard to find peace in my house.  Therefore, my Year End (don’t worry–I have enough to carry me into the New Year) resolution is to only work on existing projects at least until the pile is manageable.  I have made a good start:

My mom helped by hemming the binding on the Tessellating Buzzsaw and it has been washed twice with color catchers.  Shown are #1 and #2 washes with an unused sheet.

The bright Kite/Hexagon is bound and washed.  These photos were taken before laundering but it came out wonderfully with only a light neutral color catcher.  I had put off the washing because I was using Quilter’s Dream batting for the first time.  It shrank  quite a bit–from 50 x 60″ to 46.5 x 55.5″–for a delectable crinkly look.

The Fish in My Attic which had a complete rip-out and do-over is FINISHED at last.  I am quite happy with the second result.  I did machine SID around the blocks and then added some hand quilting, most of it in a wavy pattern.  Now I feel inspired to make another one from the fish fabric yardage donated by my friend Carol.  But not yet of course

Lastly for now, another scrappy bargello donation quilt.  I made a conscious effort to construct this quilt with males in mind.  I have never done that and may not really have achieved my goal, but at least there are no floral fabrics involved–unless you count the leaves on the backing   Also a new first for this quilt, I used Pellon Nature’s Touch cotton batting from the 25-yard (90″) roll I snagged at a JoAnn’s doorbuster sale the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  The regular price was $275 but it was on sale for the bargain price of $100.  I was ecstatic when I got roll #3 of four and I am thrilled with the result after washing since I had never used this brand before and was making a rather large financial commitment before knowing the results.  Can you tell I have big plans for 2013?
